How I Got Here
Growing up, I was always fascinated by how the body worked. From drawing pregnant women in my childhood art to wearing out my Jane Fonda workout tapes as a teen, I was hooked on the idea that how we move, eat and live matters.
That fascination turned into a calling. Eventually I earned my Bachelor of Science in Foods & Nutrition from Brescia University College at Western in 2015 and completed my Dietetic Education & Practical Training with distinction in 2016 but not before my first life altering event…
My marriage had ended and I was pushed into action to really go after my calling in women’s health - it was after this life altering event that I had made the decision to go to university. I started the journey as a single mom to rebuild my confidence, my life and my future.
I thought I had it all mapped out - but life had other plans.
In the midst of building my future, yet again, I was hit by deep personal grief. Losing my brother-in-law was a turning point I never expected - he was my big brother in every sense of the word and the weight of his loss was absolutely crushing.
In the quiet after loss, everything felt different - including my body, my identity and my priorities.
At the same time, I felt the overwhelm many women feel when it comes to health. Constantly hearing conflicting information, feeling dismissed by doctors and trying to keep up with wellness routines that felt impossible to maintain.
I was exhausted and needed something simple… something real.
That’s when I turned inward. I began re-learning how to care for myself but not from a place of pressure - from a place of compassion and curiosity.
It started with nutrition, exercise, then essential oils and finally sourdough.
What began as a way to ground myself became
a spark of something I couldn’t ignore.
Women started asking for guidance to learn sourdough and other foods and habits that support their hormones as their bodies continue to change. They were craving support that felt understanding and empowering.
So, I listened.
And Rising Raven was born - not just as a brand but as a tribute to resilience, transformation and the wisdom we gain along the way.
